At NW Substance Abuse Recovery Alliance (NWSARA), we believe recovery is possible – and no one should be denied a chance to reclaim their life because they can’t afford help. Every day, countless individuals struggle under the weight of addiction, often losing their health, homes, jobs, and connection to loved ones. The impact of substance use disorders ripples through families and communities – but with the right support, healing is within reach.
Our society is saturated with messages promoting alcohol and recreational drug use. Yet for many, these substances quickly become more than a habit – they become a trap. For those already on the margins – facing homelessness, unemployment, or isolation – the path to recovery can seem out of reach.
That’s where NWSARA comes in.
Our Mission
NWSARA exists to bridge the gap between the desire to recover and the means to do so. We support programs and individuals that are committed to long-term recovery through 12-step programs and sober living environments, approaches that have proven time and again to change lives.
Our focus is on organizations offering structured, supportive, and abstinence-based treatment – especially those grounded in the time-tested principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). We help by funding facilities and treatment programs, and by offering scholarships and financial aid to individuals who are ready to start their journey toward lasting recovery but lack the resources to do so.
Why It Matters
Many people in need of treatment simply cannot afford it. Insurance coverage is often limited, and support from government agencies is decreasing. Even motivated individuals with jobs or families may not have access to care that leads to true, sustainable recovery.
By supporting NWSARA, you’re helping ensure that recovery is not a privilege, it’s a possibility for everyone.
Our Focus
We prioritize programs that:
Follow the 12-step model of recovery
Require sober living as part of the treatment path
Offer long-term, structured support
Empower individuals to return to society as healthy, contributing members
We believe that lasting recovery takes time, community, and commitment. Through our funding and support, we help people rebuild their lives – step by step.
